The Divine Feminine

The Women's Voices: a celebration's season will open with an exhibition of “ The Divine Feminine”.


Aimee focuses on the feminine allure in figures such as the mysterious Dark Lady of Shakespeare, Lilith, and the Shekinah, As well as painting goddesses and mythic women Aimee is fascinated by the stand out personalities of pre-war cafe society and its craze for tango and cabaret. 


Aimee Birnbaum (RI) is inspired by mythic, mystical and historical themes, painting dancers and spirits in pagan settings, or tangoing in interwar cafes. Her exhibition about 1930s cafe society invited by “ European City of Culture 2022 Kaunas" toured Lithuania, included showings at The Vilna Gaon Jewish State Museum and the M.K. Ciurlionis National Museum of Art.


She collaborates with composers and musicians and curators, most notably with a major exhibition  in Thessaloniki at the Byzantine museum and the Institut Français de Thessalonique in 2019 and 2020.  Her art work on film illustrating the contemporary music of Royal Philharmonic Society Composer Ruta Vitkauskaite was screened at the Mall Galleries and JW3 Hampstead.

She presented her project at Limmud Jewish Festival, Birmingham in 2024,  “ Imagining Little Paris, Kaunas” which evoked its brief shining moment between the World Wars. 


An elected member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours she exhibits annually at the Mall Galleries, London.
